Wes Matthews is no Deshawn Stevenson

Deshawn Stevenson prepares for tough defensive matchups by calling out the opposing player. For instance, when facing Lebron, he calls him overrated.

The Jazz' lone rookie in the starting lineup and lone defensive player, Wes Matthews, charts a different course. As Young Wes prepares to face the Lakers and their all-star shooting guard, he may just have referred to Kobe as "the greatest to ever play this game."

Wes might as well have spat in Booner's face.

Who among us is surprised that it turns out Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant are good friends?

Listen, Wes Matthews comments are not offensive to me, rather, if anything, they are smart.

You do no harm in 'respecting' the abilities of your opponent. Now whether or not Kobe is the greatest to ever play, well, i dont know about that, but I think young Wes' comments are smart.

So, in short, you think Kobe is the best player ever, Booner?

No, I dont think Kobe is the best player ever, but I dont necessarily believe that it is unwise for an undrafted rookie to state as much before he plays Kobe.

And it is definitely preferable to DeShawn's strategy.
